DODGE Ski Boots keep kicking *ss in New Zealand

Posted by – August 31, 2010

Can’t name names but … DODGE Ski Boots continue to kick *ss in New Zealand National Championship GS.  At least two pair in the Top 15 and one of those was very highly-placed!

If you haven’t already done so, make sure you place your order with Starthaus, Race Stock Sports, Harb Ski Systems or SkiBootFitting.com to make sure you have your DODGE carbon fiber ski boots this year.  Otherwise, all you might be seeing is the back of the DODGE Ski Boot.

Look for us at PJ’s on Saturday.

DODGE Ski Boots keep medaling

Posted by – August 24, 2010

Confirmed! DODGE Ski Boots achieved 2 podiums, 2 Top Tens, a Top 15 and a Top 20 placing! Way to go Team DODGE Ski Boots.

Congrats to Warner Nickerson on his two podium finishes in the GSs at Coronet Peak, New Zealand on August 23rd and 24th.

Awaiting some confirmations, but it also looks DODGE boots were on the feet of another Top-10 finisher in both races and on the feet of a Top-15 finisher and a Top-20 finisher.

Way to go boys!

New Zealand recap

Posted by – August 21, 2010

Had a good Skype conversation with Warner last night, which was this afternoon in New Zealand.  He expanded on some of his email about the DODGE carbon fiber ski boot on hard snow.  He’s feeling really good about it (as well he should after his win in the opening ANC GS.)  And,there are some other guys thinking it’s pretty good too.

We have a racer using the boot who has to remain nameless because of sponsor contracts who I’ll start to call “Bob” unless he gives me a different name to use.  Anyway, “Bob” was undecided whether to use the DODGE boot or try to make his sponsored rubber boot work.  He had been skiing on the rubber boot one day and then on the DODGE the next day and thought they were pretty similar.  “Bob” told me that he then did a hard snow test of the DODGE boot on one foot and his rubber boot on the other foot and what a difference!  “Bob” said “The turns on the DODGE were solid and sure.  The turns on the (rubber) boot felt like the ski had no edges!”  Yesiree, “Bob”!

But, there’s more!

Another “nameless(!?)” racer asked if he could borrow Warner’s boots for a couple of runs.  Warner told me this top-level racer was pretty impressed by the DODGE and that it should affirm the DODGE’s performance on hard snow.  It’ll be interesting if we hear from his current supplier about getting some boots.

"Gyro Captain" from "Mad Max: Road Warrior"

Warner as "Captain Carbon"

I’ve enjoyed seeing Warner get some good “face-time” on JO’s video blog. Did anyone beside me and Dave notice how much Warner resembles The Gyro Captain from the Mad Max Road Warrior movie?  What do you think?

I’ll keep the stuff coming.

Time to get caught up on things around the house (dump, pool, grass … )

Back in the Green Mountain state

Gee, it’s good to be back home.

After a scare in Chicago that I’d be stuck there last night (first one plane had a mechanical problem, forcing a plane and gate change; then the second plane had a mechanical and the delay threatened to make us too late to beat the BTV runway construction curfew,) I did make it back to Burlington at 11:30 PM.  After a little supper, in bed by 1 AM and up and at `em at 7:45 this morning.  Still not sure if I’m coming or going, but I figure the best way to re-acclimate is to force myself back onto Eastern time.

Dave came over and we debriefed, then went to work in the DODGE Ski Boots shop.  It’s good to be back there.

A lot of really good things came out of the trip to New Zealand and, I promise, I’ll share most of it with you.  But it’ll take me a couple of days to sort through so it makes sense.  Right now, I’m still a little cloudy.

But, one of the things I can share is a snippet of this email from Warner.

” Today I was able to train on some hard snow … I was pretty psyched.  The ruts really did not have any effect on my skiing and the hard snow was not an issue.  There is a ton of grip.  …  So I am really fired up about where the boot is right now.”

And, Warner lent his boots to a top GS skier who was dutifully impressed.

So, between Warner’s victory in the opening Australia New Zealand Cup Giant Slalom and the recent on-snow tests, it was a very good trip.

Dave came over and I’ve been in the shop all day.  It’s now 6:30 PM Friday but my body thinks it’s 10:30 AM Saturday, so I’m definitely messed up.  Some dinner and bed and I’ll be right as rain tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing Peter Dodge tomorrow night at Moondawg’s for some story telling.

Go Team Dodge!
