DODGE Ski Boots at Mt. Hood

Posted by – May 28, 2010

Yesterday it was cooler and I was a helluva lot more comfortable and friendlier!

Sent a bunch of boots out to Mt. Hood where they’ll be available for demos all during the month of June.  If you want to try them, please contact us so we can connect you with Harald Harb or Jim Schaffner to arrange things.

Got a new platen for the boot molding press.  Dave rigged it up and we ran some tests yesterday.  It makes things easier and is a welcome addition.

Also made some boot fitting tools yesterday so people with low volume feet can get the highest performance from their DODGE Ski Boots. We did some test fitting with Tim Kelley and we’re really pleased with how they’re working and the possibilities.  No one else has a system anything like this, and, frankly, it’s brilliant in its simplicity.  Look for it in DODGE authorized boot fitting centers in late summer.

Another busy day today as we have a visit from a talented electrical engineering student who’s been working on a built-in boot heating system for us.  We’re going to take a look at his progress today.  Probably be doing some tests in Soouth America at the end of summer.

Also getting boots ready for some other racers headed to Mt. Hood who will be coming by tomorrow for fitting.

Gosh, I love what I do!!!!

Off to work.

Another hot day at DODGE Ski Boots

Posted by – May 25, 2010

89 degrees in the shop and I’m molding boot parts.  Of course, standing next to the press, it’s at least 10 degrees warmer. Oy!

But, I did get enough cuffs made for a bunch of boots.  Here’s what they look like fresh out of the mold.  Next step is the trimming.

Had a nice visit from our rep from our laminate supplier.  Thanks for lunch Ben!

Tomorrow we’ll trim the parts and mold lowers for a bunch of “Warner” flex boots destined for EC and WC racers.

Gotta cool off.

More tomorrow.  Just remembered … Wednesday morning hockey … nothing better than an ice rink in the summer!

Chill out.

Hot day in the DODGE Ski Boot business

Posted by – May 24, 2010

Dang it was hot today.  In more ways than one, too.

6:30 PM and it's hot!

First was the most obvious … the air temperature.  As I’m writing this (6:30 PM) it’s still 82 degrees in the shade. Too much for me at this time of year.  Worse still is our pool is having the liner replaced today, so it’s empty.  But, in a couple of days we’ll have it back.  (Wait a sec.  What am I complaining about? I’ve never opened it before Memorial Day so … Bill, qwitchyer bitchin!!)

Next hot stuff today was a GREAT visit from Warner Nickerson.  Long-time readers know how highly I think of him.  And, you know what?  Every time I see him I hold him in higher esteem.  Anyway.  We had a terrific few hours with him talking about the DODGE carbon fiber Ski Boot; his plans for next year; and more.  We’re working on some good things and will update you as we can.

Then, PJ Dewey came by to pick up some boots for an up-and-coming young racer from Quebec.  Goin’ for the “Warner” flex.  Welcome to DODGE city Chris!

Dave & I looked over our inventory of boots and, thinking about the boots that are shipping out in the next few days … some people are gonna be without boots on their feet!  Here’s the deal.  If  you want to think you want DODGE Ski Boots and want to make sure you’ve got them, better order now.  `Cause when we’re done makin’ them for the year, we’re done!  We’re sending boots to Mt. Hood.  I know there will be a shortage there, so if you think you want to try them in June, please contact me so we can reserve a pair for you .

Well, I ramble on too much.

Gotta make some dinner so I have strength for making boots tomorrow.

Chill out!

Molding new 245s today

Posted by – May 19, 2010

Whoo Hoo!

Dave has the new molds ready to go, so we’re going to make some 245 parts.  This really is exciting, as we’re doing the smaller size that has been so requested by many, and even more because we’ve made upgrades to the molding process to have better quality and to speed things up.  Today will be a matter of taking our time to see how things are working, and to tweak things as needed.

Played hockey this morning with John.  Lots of fun but also kinda sad as he’s moving south tomorrow so our hockey dates will be limited.

Have a good one.
