Snow flurries, succumbed and put on winter tires.

Posted by – November 30, 2009

I was holding out putting the winter tires on the final car (the one I drive every day) because I didn’t want to jinx the weather and keep it warm.  But, with temps in the mid-30′s and snow flurries, I decided to put the winter tires/wheels on.  Makes it easy when you have a floor jack and impact wrench.

So I’m ready for the snow on the roads.

Have you visited the Dodge Ski Boots forum yet?  We’re looking for input, questions, participation, etc.  Go to http://dodgeskiboots.com/phpBB2 and register as a forum member.  Who’s been skiing already?  Where?

Look for many mountains to open this weekend.  Watch out for crazies.

Mt. Mansfield covered with 18" of snow, November 29, 2009

Mt. Mansfield covered with 18" of snow, November 29, 2009

Dave said he was over in Greensboro hiking around and was knee-deep in some places above 2000 feet.

Mansfield cleared enough for this photo this afternoon.  Stowe is reporting 18″ of snowfall and their photos confirm it.

Yes!

Snowed a bit in mountains but still warm in valley

Posted by – November 29, 2009

Read there’s 6″ of snow in some places in NE Kingdom.  Still warm in Champlain Valley.  On track to set record for latest snow in Burlington … bad.

Still waiting for a few pieces to finish up Dodge Ski Boots for retail sales.  Heard there’s lots of interest. Anxious to have them for people to buy.

Anxious to get on snow.  Could head out West, but still much to do around here making boots.

Quiet weekend.  Kids gone. Haven’t heard from Dave.  Quiet before the storm?

Take care.

Finally snow on mountain

Posted by – November 28, 2009

Wicked windy last night (thought Glinda was riding through on her broom), RAINY (4″+ of water in backyard), but when the skies cleared tops of mountains were WHITE!!!!!

Looking good and hopefully ski-able soon.

Getting bad.  Already modified boots and haven’t skied on them.  Must make turns … soon.

No car races. Withdrawal is bad.

Fading fast …

Good turkey day, now back to work (& play)

Posted by – November 27, 2009

Had some family over for a nice relaxing and enjoyable day.  All the usual plus diabetic-friendly  grill-roasted veggies, sherried mushrooms and spinach/raspberry/walnut salad that were GREAT!  Didn’t get sleepy at all.

Back to work today making Dodge Ski Boots.  No carbon fiber today, but other new design pieces to make it easier to assemble.

Curling in Bedford Quebec later.  Looking longingly at the mountain but still no snow.

New footbeds and boots ready to go

Posted by – November 25, 2009

Went down to see PJ at RaceStockSports today so he could make my footbeds.  Gotta say … What a difference!  PJ knows his stuff.  8 years doing WorldCup service really shows.  He even showed this old dog some new tricks and helped get my Dodge Ski Boots ready for snow.  I can hardly wait.

Invest the time and money in a really proper boot fitting and you will not be sorry.  Optimum comfort and far better performance will be the result.  And isn’t that what it’s about?

Enjoy Thanksgiving.

Seeing PJ for new footbeds today

Posted by – November 25, 2009

Have my boots ready to go but will have PJ make me some footbeds.  Good support under foot is so important to comfort and performance.  Also allows me to ski in a smaller shell.

Getting anxious for snow.  Maybe crazed, too.  Worked around the shop wearing Dodge Ski Boots.  Justified it by saying I was helping to conform the liner to my foot.

Got 11 boxes of buckle parts in yesterday.  Ordered lots more carbon fiber to make a bunch more boots.

Have a good turkey day!
